Spa Updates

Breathe Body & Spa | Three Year Anniversary | Prices Adjusting October 17th

September 8th - 2018 marks three years of serving McMinnville for Breathe Body & Spa. We are grateful for the support we have received over the past three years from our clients, friends & family. We could not do what we do without all of you, thank you!

We’ve had quite a few changes as a result of the fire that occurred last year, one of the biggest being our new location. Its been a blessing to now have a larger space that has allowed the opportunity for growth. As I’m sure you are aware Breathe Body & Spa continues to change and evolve and in our first few months at this current location it seemed like it was weekly. Now it’s slowed down quite a bit as we’ve gotten our bearings straight. We’ve added foot washes before services, as we graciously welcome you into the space. We now offer Esthetician services such as facials & waxing. We’ve got Vibrational Sound Therapy performed with singing bowls. We now offer Herbalist services including a third eye awakening and have plans to continue adding more Herbalist offerings.

It has nearly been one year since the fire wiped out the space we had meticulously renovated, we are still feeling the effects emotionally that the fire brought with it.  Yet we remain just as committed to this community and to building the wellness center that McMinnville deserves to have.

Effective October 17th we will be raising our service costs by $10 to accommodate our vision of growth for Breathe Body & Spa. This will allow us to continue providing the level of healing and care you are used to from the Breathe Body & Spa family. Clients that are returning within four weeks will still receive $15 (18%) off for Therapeutic and $20 (22%) off for deep tissue massage services.

December 1st will mark one year at the current location and will be the last day to redeem points for a free massage, after this date your points will be redeemable for an add-on to your massage such as Hot Stone, Cupping or Dry Brushing.

Gift certificates purchased before September 8th, 2018 with a value of $75 can be redeemed without paying the $10 price increase until January 31st, 2019.

If you have any questions please respond to this email and we will be happy to assist you.

Thanks always,

- Breathe Body & Spa Family

Breathe Body & Spa | Flooring Update | How to Paper Bag Floor

Most of the reactions people have when they see our floors for the first time start with amazement, especially when we reveal what they are made out of. If you aren't familiar our floors are actually made out of paper bags. They are called paper bag floors because you can make them out of paper bags, however we just purchased a roll of painters floor covering paper. We spent a little over $120 to do most of the flooring in the spa. The process is pretty simple;

  • tear off your section of paper and crumble it up into a ball
  • flatten it out, and dip into a water & glue mixture bucket (1:1 ratio)
  • brush some glue/water onto the desired section of the floor
  • remove paper from glue/water and flatten onto floor
  • continue repeating the above steps, layering each piece similar to paper mache until you've covered your desired section of floor
  • once finished apply desired stain to flooring, let that dry
  • once stain is dry, apply polyurethane to floor to seal and protect (we added some glitter for that extra special sparkle) - remember more layers of polyurethane means better protection. We did seven layers.
  • congratulations you've got paper floors

As we finish our preparations to become an open every day spa, we realized it was time to patch our floors a little bit. We've had many clients come in and out of the spa over our first year of being open, and this is the first time we've had to do any patching. Here is a picture of the staining process.

If you are interested in doing paper bag floors, I highly recommend it! It's an economical way to make your floors look great.
